What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis isn't some weird system that knocks you out, it is something we all experience to a greater or lesser degree during each day.
It is when you 'zone out' from the world either because you are focused intently upon something (like a film perhaps) or when you are
daydreaming.
What is hypnotherapy?
This refers to the therapy that is carried out whilst you are in a hypnotic state. It may suggest new ways of looking at your problems,
or perhaps get you to find a resolution that will untie the mental knots that hold your symptoms in place. Hypnotherapy isn't a cure
in and of itself, it is merely a set of tools that enable you to change negative patterns in your life into a more positive approach.
Will you wave something in front of me to get me hypnotised?
I'm afraid not. I am trained as an Erikssonian Hypnotherapist, we use relaxation techniques and language to take you into the hypnotic
state. It is very calm, and very pleasant.
Will I know what happens whilst I'm hypnotised?
Yes, although some of my patients may fall asleep on me very occasionally. Everything that happens whilst you are in trance-state is
remembered by you.
What if I can't be hypnotised?
Everyone can be hypnotised because its a natural function of the mind. So it's not a question of if you can, but, if you want to.
Can I get stuck inside my head?
No, you can't. Even if the therapist didn't wake you up, sooner or later you would get bored enough to open your eyes.
What is NLP?
It stands for Neuro Linguistic Programming, a technique for looking at the way someone performs perfectly and then mimicking that
within ourselves (in a nutshell). They call it modeling, although no cat walk is required.
Does using NLP as a therapy involve lots of study?
No, it does require you to practice what you've learnt each day though.
